I appreciate this post. My daughter has PWS, a rare endocrine disorder, and family holidays can disrupt the routine. We use a lot of gratitude practices in our household, which helps. I love the approach in your article which is not necessarily to avoid gatherings but to work with them as best you can. Gratitude, savoring, appreciation, compassion etc. all help.
Thanks Emily, for sharing your family's story. My heart goes out to you for your daughter's struggles. But it sounds like you have a great perspective. With you in trying to navigate tricky waters with love, kindness, and gratitude!
What a gift of a post full of so many great ideas and resources! I was especially touched by the dialogue of your family’s affirmations - so beautiful!
My gratitude practice is making a conscious effort to live out Philippians 4:8 even when everything around me says it's impossible.
"... whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Think about these things and be grateful for what I have.

Thanks @Megan Walrod! I bet you have a stash of your own great ideas for gratitude, after seeing your thoughtful work.
Always. And thank you for the acknowledgment!
